Your Questions, Answered
Starting therapy can feel like a big step. Here are answers to the most common questions to help you feel informed and at ease.
We all come across difficulties in our daily lives. Sometimes these are manageable, while other times they are more persistent and require more energy from us. A good time to begin therapy is when the challenges you are experiencing feel persistent and start to affect your ability to function in everyday life — at work, in relationships, or in your sense of self. That said, you do not need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Many people start simply to understand themselves better or to grow.
A psychologist holds a degree from a certified institution in Psychology and is licensed to practise. A psychotherapist has received specialist postgraduate training in a specific form of psychotherapy — beyond their initial degree — which includes supervised clinical practice. It is possible to be both, as is the case here: Anastasia holds a Psychology degree, an MSc in Health Psychology, and completed her systemic psychotherapy training at Ke.S.Me.Th., certified by EFTA.
Each psychotherapy session lasts one hour. This duration is standard in systemic psychotherapy and allows enough time to explore themes meaningfully while maintaining a clear and containing structure for both the client and therapist.
There is no single answer — each person needs a different number and frequency of sessions depending on their goals and situation. Sessions typically take place once a week, though depending on individual need, this can be more frequent or every two weeks. This is something we will discuss and agree on together at the start of our work.
Yes. As a psychotherapist, I am bound by a strict duty of confidentiality. Everything discussed in our sessions remains entirely private. The only exception to this is where there is a serious safety concern — either for you or for a third party. In such cases, I would always aim to discuss this with you first wherever possible. Confidentiality will be explained in full at the start of our work together.
